30 Players in 30 Days: Danilo Gallinari, Denver Nuggets

In an attempt to get myself and others hyped about the 2016–17 NBA season, I brainstormed several different preview ideas. Many outlets are doing team previews, but this is a player’s game, damnit. Why not take my favorite and/or most interesting player from each team and write a l’il somethin’ somethin’? I decided to write them in order of my projected finish for that team.

I’ve always liked Danilo Gallinari… even if his body continuously betrays him. Funny that at the ripe old age of 28 (with perhaps the NBA’s best birthday to boot),  he’s a grizzled veteran on a team full of babies.

My Fave Video

Let’s say you don’t regularly follow the NBA. If you watched that video and I told you that Gallo was one of the 10 best players in the League, you’d probably believe me, right?

More than likely, you just shook your head, because if you’re reading this, more than likely you follow hoops on some level, and you know that this dude can’t stay on the floor.

It doesn’t change the fact that when he does play, Gallinari is a 6’10”, human match-up problem. Put a big guy on him? Blow-by city. Put a small dude on him? He’ll shoot right over him. In a perfect world, the Nuggets would have 82 games with Gallo, and with their young nucleus, they could challenge for the West’s eighth seed.

Can’t see it happening, although with all that youth they’ll be fun to watch at an absolute minimum.

30. Jeremy Lin, Brooklyn Nets

29. Brandon Ingram, Los Angeles Lakers

28. Ben Simmons, Philadelphia 76ers
